Okay news...good news...bad news

Lot's going on around the house right now...trying to get ready for the baby who will never come.

We had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and we were hoping for some good news...nothin'.  This baby isn't going anywhere.  He hasn't dropped, there's been no progress with any effacing/dilation (tmi?), and....he's big....and getting bigger.

This is my friend complaining about my stupid cervix.

So, the plan is to go to the hospital either Sunday or Monday night and take some drugs to see if we can get something started.  My doctor said that at this point it's about a 50/50 chance that I will need a C-section.  I'm really hoping we can avoid that.

I did some walking around our green belt last night to try to get this party started.

Boo fashioned these wood things out of some old tennis shoes and boards, and he proceeded to stomp the new sod.  He's becoming a bit obsessive about this yard.  At least it's entertaining :)

On a heavier note, they took my granny off her respirator last night.  There is absolutely nothing more that the doctors could do, and my mom and her sisters were left with the horrible decision of what to do.  They took her off the respirator, and now they're just waiting.

It's so sad, but we have watched my granny suffer for the last four years.  I just hate that she isn't going to get to see her first great grandchild.  She was soooo excited about it, and it doesn't seem fair.

As far as food goes...it all started out okay.

A little pb toast, yogurt, and trop 50 for breakfast...

I had a grilled chicken wrap that I made with a low carb tortilla for lunch...and then...the snacking.  It's really getting out of control.  I'm going to attribute it to letting myself get too hungry.  I panic when I get hungry, and I want to eat everything in sight.  Going to try to avoid that today!

Weekend Recap...

We had a pretty great weekend...until yesterday...but I'll get to that later.

I was a lazy blogger (and human in general) on Friday.  I didn't even get out of bed until almost 11!  Crazy...I'm usually a pretty early riser.  I guess it's just my body realizing that I won't be able to stay in bed until 11 EVER again...

Still no baby.  Not even a hint or glimmer of labor being anywhere close...  And he's getting bigger.  He's taking over my entire body.  I'm so ready for him to be OUT! You know what does glimmer...these freaking stretch marks all over my stomach and hips...gross.

Friday we went to Twin Peaks to watch some OKC Thunder basketball.  I'm a Texas girl and all, but I never really got into the Dallas Mavs.  I do love me some Thunder though.  I think it's just an Oklahoma thing.  The Thunder is the only professional team in the state, so everyone cheers for them big time.  It's actually a lot of fun.  The only con was that we sat in bar height chairs for several hours...so my feet and ankles were gargantuan after the game.

Didn't eat so hot this weekend.  I really don't know why.  I have no excuse.  It wasn't pregnancy cravings or anything like that...I just made some poor choices.  I had a fried chicken and shrimp basket on Friday night. Then, boo and I had pizza on Saturday.  Don't worry...the scale totally showed it this morning. Up almost 3 pounds...my doctor is going to love that.

I did try to do better on Sunday.  We went back to Twin Peaks, but I got the steak salad instead of the fried everything basket.

I was delish.  It had a little cilantro lime vinaigrette on it...yum!

When we got back from shopping and watching basketball on Sunday, I got online to pay some bills.  I was trolling though our recent expenditures, when I noticed two pretty big charges.  Don't get me wrong...my boo has spent over $600 on things before...but there is usually a discussion prior to these purchases.

He was working on the yard, so I went to ask him about it.  Nope.  He had no clue.  Turns out these charges were fraudulent.  Someone had swiped boo's card information, and proceeded to take this information to Olathe, KS where he/she spent over $600 of OUR money on gift cards at a grocery store.

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a thief.  We bust our asses for our money for our family.  It's a total violation when someone steals anything from anyone.

So, we spent the rest of Sunday evening and most of this morning trying to get everything straightened out. We had a visit from the police last night, talked to the Kansas police this morning, and filed a fraud claim with our bank.  What a pain.  Luckily all this is happening days before we have a baby (insert my sarcastic eye roll here).

I guess it's just our luck.  We seem to have a theft problem right before any major event in our lives.  Boo got all 4 of his wheels stolen in the middle of the night the week before our wedding.  It must be our thing.

Whew...long post.  I'm finished.  Trying to eat better this week!  I will also be jumping on trampolines, bouncing up and down, and driving on dirt roads in an effort to get this baby out!

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Oh yeah...my first rose bloom of the Spring!

Ten Favorite Weight Loss Tips & Tricks

button

Hello!  I decided to link up with one of my FAVE blogs, and share some of my weight loss tips and tricks! Please realize, not all of these are in practice right now... as I am a giant pregnant woman.  However, I do plan to reinstate them all as soon as this kid gets here!

In no particular order...my weight loss tips & tricks

  1. Plan your meals ahead of time.  I don't think it matters if you use Weight Watchers, Fitness Pal, or just count your own calories.  If you plan what you're eating for the entire day, then there is always less room for a fudge up.
  2. Portion out dinner before you even eat it.  I do this all the time.  If I make a huge pot of spaghetti, or soup, or a casserole, or whatever, I go ahead a get my Glad containers ready.  I portion it up, give my husband and I the first 2, and then I immediately put all of the leftovers in separate containers.  This way, there are pre-portioned lunches ready to go, I don't have to guess how many points are in each one, and I don't have a large tub of spaghetti hanging out in my fridge waiting for me to wolf it down.
  3. Allow yourself a cheat meal, or a cheat bite, or whatever it takes. If I deprive myself of something I want, there is not doubt that eventually I will end up in a corner surrounded by candy wrappers and stuffing my face with cool ranch doritos.  In order to prevent this, I allow myself something that I  really want at least one meal a week.  Also, if my husband orders something with fries, I'm going to eat one or two.  I get to taste them, but I don't have the guilt that comes with eating a full plate of them.  My mom always said, "The first bite tastes exactly the same as the last bite."
  4. Drink with your meals.  I would say drink water, but I love my iced tea and diet coke.  I have found that if I make an effort to drink as I'm eating I get full faster. I know this isn't a huge revelation, but it works.
  5. Exercise.  Sometimes I hate it, sometimes I love it...regardless...It's the only thing that gets the weight off fast, keeps it off, and helps your body not look like a balloon filled with jello.
  6. Let your friends and family know that you're trying to lose weight.  I lost the most weight when my college roommate and I were doing Weight Watchers together.  We held each other accountable, there wasn't a lot of crap in the house, and we encouraged each other.  Even if your friends and family aren't losing weight with you, it's nice to have that support group and some accountability while you're losing weight.
  7. DWLZ!  Dottie's Weight Loss Zone.  I learned about this website in a WW meetinga long time ago, and it has helped me ever since.  There are TONS of restaurants listed here with WW points and calories for TONS of items.  I rarely go to a restaurant and don't pull this up.  There's also a .99 app.
  8. Get dressed and put some makeup up on, girl!  I feel waaaaaay better about myself if I'm dressed in something that fits me (no matter the size) and I have my makeup and hair done.  For some reason, if I lay around in sweat pants all day I am definitely more likely to veg on the couch and eat too much.
  9. The WW scanner app.  It's awesome.  If you're walking around the grocery store and wondering how many points are in that frozen breakfast sandwich, just bust out your iPhone and scan that puppy.  I usually scan at least 10-20 things while I'm shopping!
  10. Talk nice to yourself.  This one may seem weird, but whatevs.  I used to be mean to me....like REALLY mean.  If I messed up a meal, or didn't like what I saw in the mirror I would give myself hell about it.  One day I realized that I had to stop this. I wouldn't tolerate anyone else talking to me the way I talked to myself.  I decided to be nicer to myself.  If I did great at dinner and didn't eat the whole bread basket, I gave myself a pat on the back.  If I only lost .2 pounds that week, I congratulate myself...I respond to myself better when I'm nice to me :)
Cant' wait to read everyone else's!

Weight-In Wednesday

button

I'm linking up with Erin & Alex again for Weigh-In Wednesday.  Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday.  My grandmother isn't doing very well, and she's been in the hospital for over a week.  We decided to go see her yesterday because, with the baby coming, I'm not sure when I'm going to get to see her again.  It was very sad, but she's had a poor quality of life for a while.  Still doesn't make it easy!

On a lighter note (literally), we went to the doctor on Monday, and I had almost LOST a pound.  At week 39 of pregnancy, I almost screamed with delight.  We were a little disappointed to find out that the baby wasn't making his grand entrance anytime soon.  We wait another week...

Boo and I have been trying to eat healthier...even though we are eating out a lot.  I'm sorry...I just don't have the energy to cook...or think of meals...or think in general.  I'm bad.

We went out to lunch yesterday at a BBQ restaurant, and I had a baked potato with smoked turkey and cheese.  Instead of butter and sour cream, I jazzed it up with some BBQ sauce.  It was delicious.

I actually DID cook last night...if you can call it that.  I threw some Schwan's lemon pepper chicken on the Foreman grill, steamed some fresh asparagus, and heated up some Uncle Ben's :)

It was actually REALLY good, and it was nice to have a "homemade" meal after eating out so much.  We have a dinner date tonight, so I'm going to try to behave myself at our favorite Mexican food restaurant tonight.  We'll see how that goes.

We tried this for the first time last night, and it was delicious!

Today is so far so good!  I managed to eat some watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew.  Then, I had a banana with some peanut butter.  I seem to eat a lot less when I'm at home.  I know it's the opposite for a lot of people...at home I just have more stuff to do (or more stuff that I want to do), so I keep myself busy.

Hope everyone else is having a good week!
